Microsoft reportedly plans to bring its AI-powered Copilot to Windows 10
Microsoft allegedly plans to bring Copilot, its generative-AI-powered personal assistant, to late adopters. Windows Central's Zac Bowden reports the Copilot button and sidebar from Windows 11 will "soon" arrive in Windows 10. The AI assistant for Windows 11 launched in beta in August and officially in September. Bowden says the Windows 10 Copilot will include plugins that work across both operating systems. "I understand the experience and capabilities of Copilot across Windows 10 and Windows 11 will be roughly the same, including plugin compatibility across both versions of the OS," the editor reported.
Prompt to GPT-3: Step-by-Step Thinking Instructions for Humor Generation
Chen, Yuetian, Shi, Bowen, Si, Mei
Artificial intelligence has made significant progress in natural language processing, with models like GPT-3 demonstrating impressive capabilities. However, these models still have limitations when it comes to complex tasks that require an understanding of the user, such as mastering human comedy writing strategies. This paper explores humor generation using GPT-3 by modeling human comedy writing theory and leveraging step-by-step thinking instructions. In addition, we explore the role of cognitive distance in creating humor.
Microsoft brings an AI-powered Copilot to its business app suite
Microsoft today introduced what it's calling the "next generation" of AI product updates across its business apps portfolio. They touch on both Power Platform, Microsoft's set of low-code tools for building apps and workflows, and Dynamics 365, the company's suite of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) tools. In an interview with TechCrunch, Charles Lamanna, CVP of business apps and platform at Microsoft, described the updates as the logical next step on Microsoft's automation journey. Powered by tech from AI startup OpenAI and built using the Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft's service that provides enterprise-tailored access to OpenAI's API, the new capabilities follow the rollout of OpenAI text-generating AI models in Power Platform four years ago and the more recent debut of generative AI capabilities in Viva Sales, Microsoft's seller experience app. "Over the last four years, we've been on a journey to bring generative AI and foundation models to the workplace," Lamanna said via email, noting that Microsoft has a longstanding partnership with OpenAI to commercialize the vendor's tech in Microsoft's own products and through the Azure OpenAI Service.
With ChatGPT, the new Bing wants to be your 'AI-powered copilot for the web'
Microsoft unveiled the "age of AI" on Tuesday, with new conversational ChatGPT features for Bing described as the "AI-powered copilot for the web." Microsoft will add contextual searches to Bing, powered by its own version of the ChatGPT algorithm. Microsoft will also integrate a separate, dedicated chat interface for Bing, complete with footnoted links. Finally, AI will be integrated into Edge, allowing to summarize a financial earnings report, for example. Bing's new search engine interface is live, but to a limited number of people.
GitHub releases an AI-powered copilot to help improve code
GitHub is helping developers to speed up and clean up their code with a new AI-powered tool that it calls Copilot. GitHub Copilot uses an AI system from OpenAI known as OpenAI Codex. The system claims to have a broad knowledge of how people use code and claims to be "significantly more capable than GPT-3" in generating code. By drawing context from the code that a developer is working on, the system is able to suggest entire lines or functions. Even veteran coders can benefit from GitHub Copilot by using the system to explore new APIs and discover alternative ways to solve problems without having to scour the web for answers.
